Farming Simulator 22 in VR (vorpX)
My first time trying vorpX with Farming Simulator 22 was awful. I gave up after 30 mins. Couple of months later, I decided to go back and try it again. I have been playing FS22 exclusively in VR ever since. It's far from perfect. My biggest gripe is that when you are standing still, I feel the world around me kind of keeps twitching. You don't notice it so much when you are driving equipment around since everything is moving. It is absolutely incredible to play this simulator in VR. Why the developers have not added any VR support for this yet is beyond me, I guarantee the developers are playing this game in VR in their spare time.
My PC specs are:
i7-6700K CPU @ 4.0 GHz (8 cpus), 16gb ram
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 8gb vram
Windows Pro 64 bit, DirectX 12
Play with both a Quest2 using official link cable and the HP Reverb G2 (v1)
My setup:
Before starting the game in vorpX, setup the graphics for Farming Simulator exactly the way you want it. Then start vorpX and go into configuration menu, right click tray icon, select "Configure vorpX", select "General" tab and checkmark "Don't optimize game settings". This kept changing my game resolution to something awful. Next select "Cloud Profiles" and search for "Farming Simulator 2022" under Game/App and select "Farming Simulator 2022 [mathisp21]", import settings and then apply. This profile should at least give you 6dof tracking. The standard default profile that is located in local section has head tracking on and for some reason this has the opposite effect in the game. This is not the same setting as the FS22 in-game setting for head tracking, this is a vorpX specific setting. You should go ahead and save a profile of what you imported. Later if you make changes and hit "return to default", I find it goes back to vorpX profile default and you have to import it all over again. To do this, select "Local Profiles" tab, search for Farming Simulator 2022 then select "Create a new profile based on this one" to make it a new local file. To find it later, you have to search for the name you gave it.
Start the game, vorpX should automatically hook and launch it in VR. Select the middle mouse button to easily switch between VR and Cinematic mode. You need to do this often while playing as it is the only way to see and use the menus properly. You don't need the hand controllers. Can do everything with either a game pad or like me, use a G29 steering wheel, pedals and shifter plus the mouse and kb. I use the mouse to select things in the menu. Also I have to adjust my view every time I get in a vehicle by adjusting it with the mouse. You can adjust the Hud by going into the vorpX menu while in game by hitting the Delete key on the kb. I reduced the tracking speed to about 35. This will get you pretty much where I am at in the settings. Just fiddle around and tweak things as needed. After you got all the settings the way you like it, you should go back and update your profile settings under "Local Profile" under "Configure vorpX".
It takes time to get used to it. Like I said, it ain't perfect. You need good VR legs. You also have to love FS and really want to be in VR to put up with all of this mess.
